"Somethings Worth Saying"

In the Chapman newspaper I came across an article that poorly addressed certain ridiculous aspects within Chapman University. The article mostly focused on the stereotypical “rich” kid and lazy cafeteria complaints. Even though some of the points made in the article are ignorant, I both agree and disagree with the author.

Take cafeteria complaints as an example; the author plainly states that if students weren’t so lazy they might actually get what their derived hungers demand. I agree, I mean come on Chapman Panthers, if you are given a form to complain or make suggestions, then stop being a shy-no-good student keeping their suggestions locked up! Maybe if one puts his or her ideas on the comment card then there will be that dish the next day!

Now I completely and strongly disagree with the first paragraph within this article. The author is basically attacking this school by addressing the dumb “taboo” of “criticizing rich kids.” Can a plain Jane student walk around campus and have the disgusting appearance of being filthy rich? I think so! In the article the author feels it is ignorant and wrong of people to be able to tell how well off someone is by seeing the car he or she drives. Are you crazy author! Of course you can, no poor person drives BMW’s or Lexus.’ I know kids at Chapman who judge a person right away based upon their looks and possessions, not for who they are. Would you be friends with someone driving a Bentley or a guy riding a tricycle? Most normal people would choose to be friends with the student who owns the nicest car, cutest clothes, and has many charming looks. (Even though most guys and girls don’t).

So next time your walking down the hall remember to use your horrible human nature and pick out those who are loaded with money. While also thinking about what your pen is going to write on the cafeteria forms!

  1. I think your tone is passionate and honest. I like how you are just saying how you feel and being very blunt.

  4. What's wrong with being friends with a guy on a tricycle?

But seriously, this sounds angry and annoyed.

Except, if you were doing that voice, you wouldn't be so evenhanded when making your argument: "I both agree and disagree."

That's called being Switzlerlandish (they were always neutral). It's better to concede that you agree some small part, (and name that part) and then point out how the majority is still wrong.

Ultimately, using a call to action to end the argument is a good move.

  5. Also, try integrating the hyperlink within the prose rather than just posting it at the bottom.
